This is Why Your Blog is Broken

Running a blog for more than a year and wondering why you have no visits yet? I tell you why your blog is overlooked - you don't treat it as a business project. Having a blog means investing in your marketing campaign, not necessarily financially. For instance, you can spend hours commenting and reading other mediocre bloggers on Twitter just to make them visit your page. Or, you can invest by travelling in faraway lands, like New Orleans with a rich history and things to see. Perhaps, you could invest yourself by perfecting the language of your blog post or creating multimedia content. All these require decision making from you, your business plan.

This is what successful blogs are about - you make a plan, start scheduling your content for one month, experiment, extend it for three months, a year. Revise your content plan every time before you go to sleep. A business plan is what makes you focus on your blog, helping to move forward step by step, enjoying the entire progress. This means, you calculate and make savings, you tell NO to your friends when they ask you to go to Burning Man Festival (honestly, I would never miss it), you stick to the schedule, you make slow but steady pushes and keep inventing topics for your posts, interviewing strangers and experiment with cooking or makeup.

This is Why Your Blog is Broken

With a business plan, you know how much you can afford to invest, both personally and financially. You know what's your target and how many visits you're expecting to have by the end of the year. Being realistic helps you a lot and it'll make you sure that your enthusiasm won't be burned out after three weeks of blogging.

Think about branding your blog and engaging other people, tell them about your idea, encourage them to participate by sharing their stories and pics. Engaging other people makes you feel responsible for them, so you won't be procrastinating. Finally, a business plan is about action, mind yourself that it's only the action that leads to action. Sitting and waiting for an inspiration to come will screw you. This why you need a business plan for your blog.
